Presans Raout 2016: go deep or go home

Friday October 7, PARIS — The urban halls of Remix Coworking once again rang with the clamor of the Presans Raout. Expectations had been set high by the previous edition of the Parisian industrial innovation event. Presans CEO Albert Meige managed once again to take everyone by surprise. Sure, the Presans team went in with a rough map of what was about to transpire. The Raout is our annual company gathering, a time of reckoning, a time when visions are shared and strategies discussed.  In 2016, a snapshot picture of Presans would reveal the following facts: Presans is consolidating its position as a French industrial open innovation leader. The Fellows team is successfully renewing itself and expanding. The technology behind

Interview with Emmanuelle Duez, CEO @ The Boson Project

Tell us about yourself and how you decided to create The Boson Project. During my student years (at Sciences Po Paris, ESSEC and Bocconi University, my idea was that I’d become a police commissioner or an investigating judge. Then I came to the realization that you can’t have an impact on our world from within state institutions. So, while I studied at ESSEC, I created WoMen’Up, which focuses on topics related to male/female diversity. It struck me then that my student endeavours had been predicated on the wrong question: “what job, what industry?”, and that the real question was “how?” Entrepreneurship suits my personality and I love bringing a team together on the basis of a meaningful project. At the

Marguerite Humeau @ Palais de Tokyo – Exploring Science & Art

Marguerite Humeau is a “disruptive” artist (Stanislas de Bentzmann, Devoteam Group CEO and patron of this exhibit) whose latest work is an exploration of the origin of our humanity (Palais de Tokyo exhibition). Based on the Jared Diamond inspired idea that consciousness comes with language, and that language was made possible by a chance gene mutation, she imagined what a similar mutation might have produced in the case of a different species. She decided to focus on Elephants, who are, as things stand, already considered to to have a high degree of intelligence and memory. Some of the sculptures represent a primordial act of mourning and agony, accompanied by a soundtrack synthesizing the proto-language and chanting of the conscious elephants. Various

In 2033, you’ll be transferring, not working

2033. Imagine that we are in 2033. Are you there? That’s not 2033! Here, let me give you a hand. In 2033, we still won’t have hoverboards, or flying cars. However, in 2033, more and more restaurants will use 3D printing to print food!?! In 2033, autonomous cars will be everywhere. In 2033, 80% of medical procedures will be automated. In 2033, 50% of the largest companies we know today will have disappeared. That’s it! Are you ready? Let’s add a couple of elements. The date is May 15, 2033. It is 10:27 AM. The woman you see here is Maya; she is a real person. She turns 26 in a few weeks and just woke up. She worked late

Thierry Mandon’s Four Point Plan to Save the French Industry

Techinnov happened a couple of weeks ago. Now in its tenth year, this cross-industrial trade fair has become an important component of the Île-de-France innovation ecosystem. Once a year in February, the upper floor of Orly airport thus turns into a marketplace for large industrial companies, suppliers, labs, consultants, startups and investors. Together they represent a big chunk of the local innovation ecosystem. They were there mostly  to do business: 9000 scheduled meetings took place. A dedicated free meeting zone added a touch of spontaneity to the proceedings. Presans CEO Albert Meige participated in a roundtable organized to kick things off, alongside Sébastien Couturier, Innovation Manager at Aéroports de Paris, and Thierry Mandon, Minister of State for Higher Education and

Looking Back: 2015 for Presans

Let’s face it, on a collective level, 2015 mainly brought us a lot of pain. Remembering that is part of what keeps us afloat in the storm. Switching to the individual level, the tone varies. Looking back, we at Presans can see that 2015 brought quite a few changes for the better. Things really kicked off for us in March, which is when we moved into our new office at Remix Coworking. The migration from the remote plateau of Saclay to the entrepreneurial hipness of the Tenth arrondissement went down rather well with the team. The options for food expanded considerably. A whole new potential to host events also opened up. Very handy, for instance, if you have a new

Presans @ X Open Innovation | expert smartsourcing

The X Open Innovation (Ecole Polytechnique Alumni Group on Open Innovation)  squad convened again recently for an exchange of views on the subject of expert smartsourcing. No surprise, Presans was on board, represented by Albert Meige and Hervé Arribart. As readers of this blog are already familiar with the XOI drill by now, we’ll just jump to the pitch set from here. Michael Haddad based his contribution on an article on technology scouting he wrote last year for the Paristech Review. The article provides a good picture of the different approaches to open innovation, with an emphasis on the problems of trust and IP management. Michael also noted that information based on the analysis of publications and patents will automatically
